Tyler’s Letter – 07/25/2016 – A New Chapter: Whitewash Training!!!

Hello my beloved friends and family!

I am in quite the situation now and much has changed since I last emailed! I am now serving in the Battle Creek 2 area. I am also now training a new missionary! His name is Elder Whitesides.

The baptism on Saturday happened! It went great! The Spirit was there and I was super stressed out all day trying to make sure everything was prepared, but in the end it was a beautiful service, and Rob is now a member of the church and is set on being diligent and serving to the best of his ability. I know he will do great things, and he’s made big changes in his life and will continue to do so. Sad to be leaving, but I’ll be returning to visit eventually! A little over a year from now, if all goes well 😉

Monday came and I rode the transfer van most of the day, and met Elder Johnson, my temporary companion, in Kalamazoo, and we drove to Battle Creek. Turns out my new area is Battle Creek, NOT Kalamazoo! I was misinformed and didn’t find out until the day came! Elder Johnson and I served here in BC until Thursday, when we went to Lansing to pick up our trainees! I am so excited and happy to be training! I have actually been praying to whitewash train for a while and now it’s here! It’s been difficult, and stressful, not knowing the area and training a brand new missionary, but things are going well, and this ward is super helpful. We are in a very nice apartment as well and I’m happy, and I think Elder Whitesides is as well. Another set of Elder live right across the street from me, one of which was in my district in the MTC! All three of us have our 1 year anniversaries this Friday! It’s already been a year!

Thank you all for all the love and support you have given me so far! I really do love you all! Don’t look at the safety index for Battle Creek! Seriously. I don’t mean to be selfish but please pray for me and my companion to find those who are prepared, and teach them by the Spirit.

Letter from Tyler’s Mission President – 07/23/2016

Dear Brother & Sister Breinholt,

This letter is to inform you that your son, Elder Tyler David Breinholt, has been called as a trainer. One of the greatest expressions of trust a Mission President can give a missionary is to assign him as a trainer of a new missionary. A missionary’s first companion will have a profound and lasting influence on the development of the new missionary’s attitude and habits.

We look forward to working with your son in this assignment. Thank you for raising such a wonderful son.

Sincerely,

Michael V. Jacobsen, President

Tyler’s Letter – 07/16/2016

Hello everyone!

Once again – emailing on Saturday. Today is our P-Day because it’s the last week of this transfer, and transfers happen on Monday. I received a new assignment! I’m going to head down to Kalamazoo City and I’m going to be training a brand new missionary! I have no idea who this missionary is going to be, or where they are from, but I am very excited. Whitewash training is going to be difficult, I am sure, but I know that God is the one who the assignment really came from, and he knows I can do it with His help. Thank you all for your love and support, which has helped me get this far. Can you believe I am nearing the halfway mark?? The days seem to pass like a blur sometimes, even though some days feel like they will never end…

We have experienced countless miracles here in the Oscoda area and I’m so grateful to have been able to be a part of the work here. Big things are happening here, lots of changes, and people’s hearts are turning towards missionary work.

Rob is getting baptized today and has asked me to be the one to perform the baptism. He has a very strong testimony and knows what we share is true, and he is so prepared to make this commitment in his life. I’m so grateful to the chance to have been able to teach him and see the light in his face grow and he has allowed God into his life.

My brothers and sisters, I know that God lives. I know it without a shadow of a doubt. He loves you, He loves me, He loves our families, and our loved ones, and He loves our enemies, too. This life is just a small part of a great plan that He has for us, a wonderful plan – The Plan of Salvation. I will serve God to the end of my life. I have experienced sin, and I have experienced righteousness. I know where they lead, and I know what side I am on. My friends and family, I love you, and I want you to be happy, and Christ’s Gospel is the ONLY way to experience true happiness. Everything else is fleeting. Everything else is temporary. Christ’s Gospel is love. Love for God, Love for your fellow men and women, and it is taught in the Scriptures. The Bible is scripture, it is the word of God. The Book of Mormon is scripture, and is the word of God. Both of them He has brought forth for us to understand and experience true happiness eternally, with God, and with our families.

Tyler’s Letter – 07/11/2016 – Baptism this Saturday!

Hello everyone!

I am so excited! Rob is getting baptized this Saturday and he is so ready! He shares with us that he knows that the Book of Mormon is true, all the time. He’s even super excited to go home-teaching. The branch is very excited as well, and hopefully this spark will turn into a raging fire and the members of this branch can continue to fellowship and do missionary work, and become a ward! A new branch mission leader was called and we met with him last night and he is ready to work, so with everything working together and with faith, great things will happen here. The only sad part is that I’m likely to be gone by next week :/ But I’m grateful to have served here in Oscoda, and can’t wait to find out where my next assignment will be.

Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week! If I would have you remember one thing it would be that God knows what is best for us, and although sometimes what’s best for us is something difficult, he will lead us through it and we will become stronger and happier in the end.

Tyler’s Letter – 07/04/2016 – HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

Hello family and friends!

Happy fourth of July!

We have seen many miracles this week but there is so little time!

Tyler and McGuire in Kitchen Hanging out on Porch

Rob has moved his baptismal date to the 16th of July and we are so happy! This means that I will actually be there for his baptism! I’m so grateful for this tender mercy and want to do everything I can to make sure he makes it to that date. And we literally JUST called him to see how he’s doing: He just watched a BYUtv study to learn more about Alma 31 and 32. So solid.

4th ofJuly Dinner View of Lake

Kayla, Mark, and John have been coming consistently to church as well and I’m very grateful for that. They are a super fun family, and Rob and Ashley (their friends) say that they wouldn’t trust any other missionaries as much as they trust us to teach their closest friends.

Today we are planning on heading to a parade and will be hanging out with a couple of members who are visiting tonight.

Hope you all have a lovely day and week! Love you all!

Elder Breinholt
